I’ve spent the past 2 years of trying different programmable split keyboards with variants of the QWERTY layout, from the 76-key ZSA Ergodox EZ to the 42-key Corne. I made frequent tweaks and adjustments to the custom keyboard software to find the best balance of comfort and efficiency. I’ve settled on the middle ground between the large Ergodox and the tiny Corne with the 58-key Beekeeb Allium58. It feels both efficient and very pleasant to type on, in part because it is low-profile and compact which reduces some wasted movement while typing.
